Starting my New Year's Resolutions Early (for the most part...)

I am trying to get back (and stick with) the habit of exercising regularly.  My dad got my family Just Dance 4 for Christmas, so the kids and I have been doing that game a lot lately.  I just got done with an hour of Yogalates (a mix of yoga and Pilates).  It has been about a month since I last did that DVD and I really felt the workout.

This blog is also going to help me reach my fitness goals this year.  I hope to share my fitness journey with others than are in the same boat.

Thanks for reading!

Fitness for Christmas

What do I want most for this new year?  To finally lose weight!  Along with that comes ways to maintain being active and variety.

My dad bought me (well, I picked it all out and he paid for it, but I guess that counts) a stability ball and a resistance ball.  He picked out for my kids (and it was a huge hit!) Just Dance 4.  I bought myself a new MP3 player.  I had one of the first models for a couple of years and used it regularly.  Don't get me wrong, I love every song on my workout playlist, otherwise, I wouldn't have downloaded it.  I really needed to upgrade to a model with a shuffle feature to break up the monotony.  I bought the cheapest model at Walmart, but hey, it fits my needs.  My hubby really wanted to be the one to buy it for me, but Christmas has  past, and I still needed one.  I know that I'm a little hard to shop for, but I really am more simple and basic than anything.  Granted, I would have loved a glittery pink or silver one, but black is fine, too.

My daughter, K, is in gymnastics.  I bought her the outfit on the left.  I can't seem to find any cheap unitards locally.  She also got the leotard and the tutu.  The leotard will be great for gymnastics.  She tried ballet last year and really didn't care for it much.  I did ballet when I was about her age, but she is way more energetic and bubbly than I was.  Gymnastics has been a much better fit for her personality.  She enjoyed dressing up in the pretty clothes while she was in ballet, but that was about it.  She may change her mind later and she likes to play dress up, so the tutu will get use.

My son, B, is starting karate through the local Parks and Recreation next month.  I bought him several pairs of comfy sweats and workout pants and a couple of cool T-shirts.  He really wants to enroll at a karate studio, but we really can't afford the several hundred dollar per month tuition.  Also, this way, we can see how much he really likes it.  I'm glad that it is being taught at a karate studio and by the lead teacher.

The kids each got a new ball to play with.  My son's is pictured.  My daughter's is probably buried in her room.  I also bought everyone new underwear and socks.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!
